Capacity and operating system for PC
CPU power: Minimum CPU Pentium II 350, but a Pentium i5 or i7 is the finest solution
Windows 2000 SP4: 1GB memory
Windows XP SP3: 1 GB memory
Windows Vista : 2 GB memory / 32 bits - 64 bits
Windows 7 : 2 GB memory / 32 bits - 64 bits
Standard VDO card with 16 or 32 MB memory / 800*600 with 256 colours
Hard disk drive > 300 GB
Ordinary 17" monitor or 15" flat monitor 800*600.
We recommend Windows XP Pro or Home or 2000 Pro!


Capacity and accessories for notebooks
All modern notebooks have the necessary power to "run" Socrate

However, do mind the following aspects:
Windows 7 should be supplied with the notebook. The Windows version should be available in your working language Windows XP PRO or Seven are recommended if the notebook is to be networked with Windows 2000 or 2003 or 2008 Server. A main storage capacity of 2 GB is recommended A hard disk drive of >300 GB is recommended A DVD - CD writer is useful A 15" TFT flat screen with active matrix 2 years guarantee or more 3 to 4 USB ports, preferably horizontally aligned and not on top of one another A parallel printer port may be useful but very rare An VGA or Dvi connector is useful to connect an external monitor A PS2 connector is useful to connect an external keyboard The barcode reader must be connected to the USB port. We can supply this type of barcode readers. (See further) An internal Ethernet network card 10/100 Mb/s or 1 Gb/s A wireless network card is often present but not really necessary The notebook backup should take place either by regularly connecting the notebook to the server, either by plugging Usb keys (10) with 2 gb for minimal capacity We recommend and sell the following brands, in order of preference: Asus / Medion / HP / Toshiba /

Accessories to enhance easy use of the notebook:
An ordinary keyboard on the PS2 port or USB port An ordinary, optical, cabled mouse Logitech also supplies a wireless keyboard and mouse on the USB port, but they are battery-operated.

Networks and servers
Up to 4 workstations, a modern, non-dedicated PC running Windows Seven will do the job!
It should possess 2 GB memory and a fast hard disk drive.
